Elevator Training

Safety Seminar Module for Elevating Devices Mechanics

This 24 hours (3 Days or 2 -12 hr. days) program is designed to meet all 20 objectives stated by the Elevating Devices Mechanics Board for those registering for the EDM-T certificate.

EDM – Continuing Education Training Programs

This course covers all the requirements stated in the Director’s Order (Ref. No. 232/08) for continuing education: three (3) hours for Act, Regulations, Codes, Director’s Orders/Bulletins; seven (7) hours for safe work practices; three (3) hours for Technical Training; and two (2) hours for general safety.

The Technical Training can be one of the following topics: Escalator Maintenance, Electric Motors–Theory and Application, Wire Ropes–Design and Use, Control Circuit Tracing (Troubleshooting), and Cab–Materials and Fastening Technology, and others as required by the industry.

Freight Handler Training

This course is approved by TSSA for users of freight elevators located in buildings that have commercial, residential, or a mixture of both types of occupants. Participants review their responsibilities under both the Technical Standards and Safety and the Occupational Health and Safety Acts and Regulations. A hands-on exercise allows the participants to demonstrate their ability to use the freight elevator in the building.

Exam Preparation Course for All EDM Certificates

These training programs are provided for persons holding EDM T Certificate to write the respective TSSA exams. The curriculum for the certificate is reviewed with the mechanics to determine the areas in which concentrated coaching is needed.

Curricula Training for EDM-D and EDM-F Certificates

These training courses cover the content of the curriculum for the respective class of EDM Certificate.
